The Pink Breakfast was a great success this year, with us managing to raise $1067 for the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ! We decided to do something a bit different with our Pink Breakfast, so instead of hosting it at the Med School, we contacted the one and only Frank, from Frank’s Café in Newtown and asked if he would let us host our breakfast there. He was very obliging and helped us to organise a lovely event at his conveniently pink-themed café. Due to the capacity of the venue, tickets were capped at 40. Every dollar from ticket sales went directly to the Breast Cancer Foundatio, thanks to all of the food provided at the breakfast being donated by wonderful local cafes around Newtown and Wellington CBD. We also put together two raffles, made up of donated items, which were drawn at the breakfast itself. The event was definitely a hit – with more than enough food to feed everyone! In fact, there was so much food that people could take doggy bags home with them, but we also donated a giant veggie frittata to the Wellington Night Shelter. To round off our fundraising, we were kindly donated a beautiful Yu Mei leather bag to raffle off – which took our total fundraising above $1000. Thanks so much to everyone who came to the breakfast, those who baked, those who helped out with the food collection, raffle collection and set-up/clean-up on the day! Also, none of this would have been possible without the generosity of the following businesses: Newtown Greengrocers, Pandoro Willis Street, AroBake, Simply Foods, Columbus Coffee, Antipodes, The Little Waffle Shop, Iko Iko, Syd Social, Commonsense Organics, Black Coffee, Baobab, Bebemos and Yu Mei.
